Description
CUSTOM MADE FOR BACCARAT HOTEL, NYC —SO CHIC! Designer Accent in a Classic French Art Deco Style, ca. 2005. two-Panel Folding Screen (we presently have two available). These were purchased from a Palm Springs dealer a few years back and came from the Baccarat Hotel, NYC. Covered in SHAGREEN* (which is most likely, the finest faux —vinyl??— we have seen) on both sides. It measures 46” H. Its overall width is 72” (which is comprised of one 34” W panel and the other is 38” W). Depth per panel is approx 1.6” and they are SOLID and HEAVY. So heavy in fact that the panels are presently stored flat, separated for easy transport and storage. This Folding Screen Room Divider would make a fabulous Freestanding Headboard or backdrop in a glam suite/ dressing room / retail space / library, office, dining room… and what an asset to offset any posh window display.
Note: This listing is for ONE (1) SCREEN, comprising two (double-sided) panels. The last photos in the listing show the option of what the 2 SCREENS would look like together, as a sample configuration.
Screen in overall very good used condition. There is some wear showing to the ivory leather trim. The shagreen itself looks very good. Texture excellent.
For anyone looking to create a backdrop that evokes the 1920’s -early 1930’s of JEAN MICHEL FRANK, DOMINIQUE, JACQUES ADNET, JULES LELEU, or PAUL DUPRE-LAFON, this screen adds that pure luxe touch. Any fans of HOLLYWOOD REGENCY or MID-CENTURY MODERN designs of KARL SPRINGER, TOMMI PARZINGER, JAMES MONT, SERGE ROCHE GIO PONTI or even our current crop (BARBARA BARRY, PETER MARINO, RALPH LAUREN, TIMOTHY OULTON at RESTORATION HARDWARE et al), will certainly respond to this statement piece.
The screen will be cumbersome to ship, but depending on your destination, blanket wrap may be your best option.
We’ve set this as LOCAL PICK UP but we can put you in contact with possible shippers for some limited destinations— arrangements and all risk assumed by the buyer. REGARDING PICKUP: Even disassembled, this item requires at least 1 STRONG person to move, and at present, I am unable to physically assist in any meaningful way.
Please ask all questions prior to purchase and look at the pics which are a vital part of the description.
****PLEASE AGAIN NOTE: ALTHOUGH THERE ARE SOME PHOTOS SHOWING THE 2 SCREENS (OR 4 PANELS), THE LISTING PRICE IS FOR ONE SCREEN. IF YOU WISH TO PURCHASE THE PAIR, PLEASE CHOOSE “QUANTITY 2” ****
To compare pricing on similar items, Barbara Barry’s Henredon (“Curtain Call” model) - faux shagreen — total width 96” — painted on one side — retail 00, used price: 00. Another she did for Baker retails at 00. Used 2400. Again, these comparable examples, the shagreen** is only one-sided.
